AIIMS Medical Entrance Exam

All India Institute of Medical Sciences abbreviated as AIIMS situated in New Delhi, established under an Act of Parliament, is an autonomous colleges of national recognition. Due to its national importance,from past so many years AIIMS conducted an all-India entrance exam for admission to MBBS courses. The Institute give its own MBBS certificates. The MBBS degree awarded by AIIMS is recognised as a medical qualification and rewarded the degree holders the equal privileges as those rewarded to equivalent awards from other Intsitutes of India.

Following courses are offered by AIIMS at Undergraduate and Post Graduate level for admission to different programs.

5½ Years Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

Eligibility AIIMS

The student must meet the following eligibility criteria before submission of his/her application form. The candidates who are not meeting the eligibility criteria are not allowed to take admission in the respective colleges institues under AIIMS.

The candidates with the minimum of 17 years of age, are eligible to apply for the exam.
The aspirants must clear 10+2 or its equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology – from any recognized University. The candidates must studied English as one of the main subjects during their academics.
The candidates must have obtained minimum 60% marks in average in Chemistry, Biology, English and Physics.
The students, who belong to reserved categories such as Schedule Castes / Schedule Tribes / Physically Handicapped, have to pass the examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in science subjects.
The aspirants waiting for results or appearing in final year examination may also apply to appear in the entrance test. However, at the time of the admission, they must show all the required certificates or documents of having passed the qualifying examination.

EXAM PATTERN AIIMS

The students must follows the following exam pattern to clear AIIMS .The candidate should also practice the previous year papers to become familier with exam pattern and time duration.

* AIIMS Entrance Exam is a single step examination.
* The question paper consists of 200 multiple and reason assertive type questions, which carry 1 mark each. Each question has four alternatives options and the aspirants has to choose the right option from them.
* The aspirants have to answer all the questions within three and a half hours, which is the duration of the paper.
* The medium of the question paper is either English or Hindi, which the candidates have to choose from before attempting the entrance test. The choice of the medium cannot be changed after that. The question paper is divided into four parts:

Physics (60)
Chemistry (60)
Biology (60)
General knowledge (20)

* There is a provision of negative marking, that is, the candidate is awarded with one mark for each correct answer but one-third mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
