Application Procedure - Assam JAT

Assam Joint Admission Test is commonly known as Assam, JAT, which is held by the Director of Technical Education, Assam. It is conducted for the aspirants who aspires to take admission into different undergraduate program in various engineering instiutes, medical institutes, regional dental institutes and ayurvedic institutes.

Courses Offered - Assam JAT

Following courses are offered by Assam JAT at Under-

graduate and Post Graduate level for admission to different programs.

MBBS - Bachelor of Surgery Bachelor of Medicine
BDS - Bachelor of Dental Surgery
B.E - Bachelor of Engineering
B.Tech - Bachelor of Technology
BAMS - Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery
BHMS - Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery
BUMS - Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery

Eligibility - Assam JAT

The student must meet the following eligibility criteria before submission of his/her application form. The candidates who are not meeting the eligibility criteria are not allowed to take admission in the respective colleges institues under Assam JAT.

The student must be minimum of 17 years of age and must be a native of the state of Assam.
The aspirant must be passe in Higher Secondary Certificate Exam of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or equivalent to it from any recognized University.
The qualifying exam must be passed by the student with minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of SC and 40% in case of ST) in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the first attempt.
The student, who are applying for B.Tech program through Assam JAT, should attain to a minimum of 21 years of age (3 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates) and below 17 years of age.

Exam Pattern - Assam JAT

The exam paper is divided into four section:

Mathematics (100 marks)
Physics (100 marks)
Chemistry (100 marks)
Biology (100 marks)

* All the questions are Multiple-cum-Subjective type, in which, the students have to solve objective type questions as well as writing essay on the given topics.
* The aspirants have to complete each paper in three hours duration.
* In the competitive entrance test, there is no provision of negative marking.

Merit List

On the basis of the students performances in Assam Joint Admission Exam, the Directorate of Technical Education Assam prepares a merit list to finalize the selection of the candidates for the undergraduate programs.

Chemistry

Surface chemistry, Chemical kinetics, Chemical bonding, Atomic structure, States of matter, kinetic theory of gases, postulates, kinetic equation, Periodic classification of elements, Chemical reaction, Chemical Equilibrium, Solutions, Chemistry of carbon compounds , Nitrogen family, Metals and metallurgical, Noble gases , Nuclear chemistry, Electro chemistry, Ionics equilibria etc.

Physics

Structure of nuclears, Semiconductor, Electric current, Discovery of radioactivity, Definitions of luminous flux, Simple harmonic motion, Heat as kinetic energy of molecular motion, Newton's law of motion, Units, Dimensions and Dimensional equations Displacement, Photoelectric effect etc.

Mathematics

Coordinate geometry, Calculus, algebra, probability, vector algebra, trigonometry etc.

Biology

Cell biology, internal organization of plants, plant ecology, microbiology, external morphology, reproduction in angiosperms, plant taxonomy, plant physiology etc.
