With the floodgates of the Indian market being opened due to liberalisation, the Indian customers have a large number of choices because a throng of foreign companies have started encouraging them in order to promote their products.

Brand management can be defined as a process of managing marketing techniques for a particular brand or a product. It is used to increase the product's value in the market. A brand manager carries a 'line-management', which is related to profit and loss of a brand. A brand manager should hold on to the principles of brand management.

As per the principles, a brand should be in accordance with the Trademark Law, easy to pronounce, remember and recognize, the name should create curiosity among customers. Apart from this, he/she should be able to present product's benefit as well as company's image in the market and look superior as compare to other brands in the market.



It also involves detailed analysis of the competitive brands in the market, identifying the needs of the consumer and devising the promotional tools required to highlight the unique selling propositions of the brand.


Qualification for Brand Management Courses:

An applicant should complete his or her graduation in any discipline and appear for the entrance examinations like CAT (Common Admission Tests) or MAT (Management Admission Tests) for pursuing MBA courses in India (Master of Business Administration).

An MBA in marketing is a prerequisite for becoming a Brand Manager.
